He looked at me and said: " You don't want to be anybody's assistant. You want your own assistant." I was in my twenties interviewing for yet another position I didn't really want at a company I could have cared less for. At least this interviewer was the very first ever to see me. My true potential. But then why was I there, practically begging for a lousy job I didn't even want? Because I, like so many others, was looking for stability, and had been told that having a job, a house, a husband and child would bring me that. But I now know that those things have little to do with real stability. Stability is an inside job that gives you the confidence and strength to create a life you love and face whatever challenges come your way. If you'd like to know how you achieve true inner stability or inner strength, let me share my 6 steps to inner stability with you.
So what is inner stability any way?
Inner stability or strength is a valuable trait that can not only improve our personal well being, but also our relationships and achievements in life. It allows us to experience deeper trust and joy, regardless of the ups and downs along the way. It is a state of emotional, mental and spiritual balance that helps you face the challenges and constant changes in life, without being overwhelmed by them. Those with strong inner strength cope better with stress, fear and emotions. They are blessed with constructive problem solving skills and the resilience to overcome adversity.
In modern day life it can be a challenge to find and retain your inner balance. Yet it is an important skill to develop for emotional resilience and mental wellbeing. In this blog post I will share 6 effective strategies to find and strengthen your inner stability that were inspired by the very stable Tarot Archetype The Emperor.
Do you often feel overwhelmed?
If you feel stable in your core you are able to remain calm, focused and balanced in even the most difficult of circumstances. You have the ability to think clearly and make considered choices, instead of reacting impulsively.
In my healing practice I meet many women who have (temporarily) lost their sense of inner stability or inner strength. Life dishes up so many situations we have little or no control over, they end up feeling overwhelmed, defeated and exhausted by the challenges before them.
I like to work with the Emperor Archetype with these women, to help them activate and call on the Divine Male energy within themselves. This powerful energy helps them to feel stronger and more stable in their own power, bringing them the clarity, structure and support they have been looking for outside of themselves. When they connect to it they know with certainty they have the strength within them to overcome any difficult situation.
How do you reach inner stability or inner strength?
Reaching inner strength is a proces that requires constant attention and self awareness. Our lives are continually changing, and every change may bring with it its own particular set of challenges.
There are endless techniques available to strengthen the feeling of inner balance. Consider mindfulness, meditation, self reflection and cultivating a healthy lifestyle.
The Major Arcana card The Emperor, represents the most stable and balanced Archetype in the Tarot. By connected with his exceptional SOUL SUPER POWERS I discovered 6 steps to inner stability that have helped both me, and my clients, through difficult times.
My 6 steps to inner stability
1. Self awareness: It all begins with being consciously aware of yourself. Take the time to observe your thoughts and emotions free of judgement. By being aware of your inner world it becomes easier to understand why you feel or act in certain ways. This allows you to choose how you will respond in any given situation.
2. Meditation: I have meditation to thank for my entire career as a healer. When I started meditating 25 years ago everything changed for me. Including those lousy jobs! Meditation helps you be in the present moment and calm your mind. This promotes inner peace and calmness, even in the middle of a crisis situation. Meditation is a fixed part of my daily morning ritual, as well as my sessions with clients.
3. Ask for help: It is important not to feel isolated. Ask for support with family, friends or a professional therapist or healer. Sharing your thoughts and emotions with others brings connection, clarity, understanding and ultimately empowers your sense of inner strength.
4. Know and fully accept yourself: This means identifying your core values and living by them. When you act in accordance with your deepest beliefs, you feel more balanced and content with yourself.
6. Selfcare: My entire last blog was about self caresince it plays such an instrumental role in my own life. Take good care of your physical, mental and spiritual health by getting enough sleep, nourishing your body with healthy food, exercising and leaving room for plenty of down time.
6: Accept change: Life is all about change. Learn to be flexible and accept change is an inevitable part of life. By developing adaptability you will be better able to deal with the ups and downs of life.
In my healing practice I often work with Archetypes to give my clients a universal symbol they can easily relate to. In the Tarot The Emperor is the ultimate embodiment of the energy of inner stability and strength.
